Darkness....

The night was beyond dark, it was black. The air’s thick haze hung low and it threatened to strangle the life from the living with its heat. The pathway to the house from the outside of the garage was easily protected with overgrown willows that purposefully draped across the shallow backyard. Ivy leaves had traveled up the front and over the top of the garage doors, discreetly covering its entrance, keeping any of Eric’s secrets safely hidden away from any of the neighbor’s view. Eric scooted the front seat back to give him more room to position himself against the dashboard and between the front seat as he pulled Jennifer’s lifeless body out of the car and carried her into the house.
